What does the Honda Plus extended warranty cover?
Honda describes Honda Plus as one of the most comprehensive extended warranties in the industry: with a few exceptions, most components are covered. Honda’s published comparison names eight systems, from climate control to the powertrain. The Honda Plus Service Provision, your contract, decides what is covered within each.

This site is about the Honda Plus Extended Warranty for Canadian-market Honda cars, SUVs, minivans and trucks. Prices are in Canadian dollars and distances in kilometres. It is not a U.S. program.

- The coverage period starts on the date of the vehicle’s Retail Delivery Report (its original delivery date) and at 0 km, whenever you buy the plan.

Powertrain. The one row where the factory warranty runs longer: 5 years / 100,000 km, against 3 years / 60,000 km for the other seven systems. Honda Plus is up to 8 years / 200,000 km.
Brakes and suspension. Both sit on the 3 years / 60,000 km factory warranty. Honda Plus lists them at up to 8 years / 200,000 km.
Climate control and electrical. Climate control and the electrical systems also sit on the 3 years / 60,000 km factory warranty. Honda Plus lists them at up to 8 years / 200,000 km.

Honda Plus does not add years on top

If a breakdown happens more than 100 km from home, Honda Plus pays for emergency lodging and meals, plus a rental car or commercial transport (taxi, bus or train) to your destination and back to the repair site. The total limit is $500 per incident, less any car-rental reimbursement you receive.

Before you need it
The deductible, rental car and trip interruption terms above are Honda’s. Your contract, the Honda Plus Service Provision, sets the detail.
What is not covered?
Honda says a few exceptions apply and that the Service Provision lists them. The only exclusions we can confirm from Honda’s published terms concern electric vehicles.
Electric vehicles. The high-voltage battery of an electric vehicle is covered by Honda’s 8-year / 160,000 km factory warranty and is excluded from Honda Plus. Charging cables and home or other chargers are excluded too.
Maintenance. Maintain your vehicle as Honda recommends in the owner’s manual to keep the plan in effect.
Everything else. This page does not list wear items or other parts: Honda’s public pages do not, and a guess could misstate your contract. The Service Provision has the full list. Whether a given failure is covered is decided by it, not by a web page.
Who repairs it, and with what?
For a covered repair, have the vehicle taken to the Honda dealer of your choice. Your coverage is attached to your VIN, not to the dealer who sold you the plan.

- Honda says you pay for the repair first and then ask for reimbursement of eligible claims. Moving within Canada changes nothing.

Whether a given repair is covered is set by the Service Provision, not by a picture or a web page.
Which terms are available?
Honda lists 9 comprehensive plans, which its price list calls the Comprehensive Protection Plan options. They run from 5 years / 100,000 km up to 10 years / 160,000 km, and the longest by kilometres is 8 years / 200,000 km. Every term is counted from your vehicle’s original delivery date.

Honda also lists two flexible-term plans whose first period is 4 years / 100,000 km or 5 years / 120,000 km.
The Prologue is not offered on the 7-year / 200,000 km, 8-year / 200,000 km and 10-year / 160,000 km plans.

Can I transfer or cancel the plan?
Yes, in most cases. Transferable under most conditions, at no cost. The transfer happens automatically when the Honda factory warranty is transferred to the new owner. Cancel for any reason within 30 days of the plan purchase date for a 100% refund, through the Honda dealer.
Ask your advisor which transfer conditions apply to your vehicle.
If you live in Quebec, the Consumer Protection Act also gives you 10 days to cancel an extended warranty contract, by written notice and at no cost or penalty.

Honda Plus is up to 8 years / 200,000 km on every row, and that term includes the factory warranty. Roadside assistance, 24/7, is extended at no extra cost.
Does Honda Plus have a deductible?
Honda Plus has a $0 deductible on a covered component breakdown. There is no deductible on roadside assistance either. The Honda Plus Service Provision defines what counts as a covered component, so ask your advisor to go through it with you before you decide.
Will I get a rental car while my Honda is repaired?
Possibly, under conditions. If a covered repair takes more than 5 hours in total, you may be entitled to a rental car under the Honda Plus rental provisions. Ask your advisor for the exact rental terms. Trip interruption is a separate benefit for breakdowns more than 100 km from home.
